What we collect
When you join, we collect your name, email address, province, and role, and you choose a password. Your account is held by Netlify Identity, our sign-in provider; passwords are stored there in hashed form and are never visible to us. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and your message. We do not collect payment information — the Service is free during our launch period.
What we don't collect
Your answers to cases, your self-assessment scores and your reflections are stored in your own browser (local storage) and are never sent to our server. If you clear your browser data or change devices, they are gone — use “Download my answers” on any case to keep a copy.
How we use it
Your information is used to give you access to the library, to send you the monthly new-case email if you ask for it, to improve our content, and to respond to messages you send us. We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to any third party.
Consent and unsubscribing
The monthly email uses double opt-in: after you ask for it you will receive a confirmation email, and nothing further is sent unless you click the link in it. Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link. This is how we comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Account emails (confirming your address, resetting your password) are sent by Netlify on our behalf from no-reply@netlify.com.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Netlify — website hosting, form processing, and member accounts via Netlify Identity (see Netlify's privacy policy)
- Kit — email delivery and subscriber management (see Kit's privacy policy)
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.
Cookies and tracking
When you sign in, one cookie is set (nf_jwt). It keeps you signed in and tells our host that you're a member, so it can open member pages for you. It is strictly necessary for the library to work and is not used for anything else. Your sign-in session is also kept in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels, and we do not run ads.
Data retention
We retain your account for as long as it is active. If you ask us to close your account or delete your data, we will remove your personal information within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised usage data may be retained for content improvement purposes.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. Under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to request its correction or deletion.
Changes
We will notify members by email of any material changes to this policy.
